Kurt holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer with the State of Ohio, a licensed Professional Engineer with the State of West Virginia, as well as a licensed Land Surveying Intern and a Real Estate Salesperson in the State of Ohio.
His professional career started with a small firm in Cleveland where he was quickly entrusted with ultimate responsibility for federally funded airport improvement projects. He was the sole point of contact for many clients throughout the state. Kurt personally met with County Commissioners, City Councils, and port authorities to solidify funding and local support for improvements to their airports. Bidding projects, design, and project management were Kurt’s primary duties, but strategic development, press relations, and business forecasting were also added to his area of focus.
After designing commercial developments for a while, Kurt pursued several entrepreneurial efforts. He established several development companies, a franchised restaurant, a construction company, and an engineering firm, being principal operator in all and sole proprietor of many of the entities.
Shortly after winding down most of these entrepreneurial pursuits, Kurt took a position with Team DDS. While there, his responsibilities started with design and construction management of dental/medical offices. He was responsible for designing the architectural, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC portions of the projects. He would then perform project management for the dental/medical offices, seeing them through to completion. Quickly, Kurt grew into the position of Lead Operations Engineer where he coordinated the actions of the construction division and ran the service department. Eventually moving into client development, Kurt takes great joy in working with clients and building relationships that last long after the project is complete.
Kurt relishes any chance to better understand all facets of the dental industry. He has attended educational opportunities with Scott Leune learning the Breakaway method of dental office design, listened to numerous speeches by Ken Runkle and The Paragon Program, and has attended the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting, the Hinman Dental Meeting, and other dental events around the country. Kurt has spoken about dental office design and construction at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, The University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and other dental study clubs and dental events.
During his free time, Kurt enjoys helping his community development entity Lancaster Alive to make his hometown of Lancaster, Ohio a better place to work, live, and play. He is the Vice President of the Lancaster-Sherman Rotary and enjoys spending time in the woods and fishing. He has three daughters and a lovely wife Jennifer, who is a general dentist in Lancaster.
